Welcome to Our Sanctuary

At Guardian Angels Bird Sanctuary, we provide a safe haven for domestic birds to live peacefully or find new forever homes.

Our founder of GABS, Rebecca, has a wide range of experience and knowledge of birds. This stretches back to 1984, when she purchased her first budgie. In 1995, she bought her first parrot, an African Grey called Sasha.

In 2000, whilst on a website buying a truck load of toys for her ever growing list of birds, the seller enquired what birds she had. After having the conversation the seller was amazed. Rebecca was then asked if she would consider working for the charity the seller was involved with.

After 13 years of volunteering and receiving a vast number of birds, some disabled, from the charity that needed feeding, vet care and of course the afore mentioned toys, our coffers were becoming in dire straits. in 2013, along with friends who had helped us with fundraising, we decided to form our own charity - Guardian Angels Bird Sanctuary was born on 18th November 2013! Officially opened by the then Mayoress of Eastwood, with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Over the following years, we have acquired various animals into our charity. At the moment, we have 5 aviaries, which house around 200 resident birds including owls, lovebirds, canaries, finches, budgies, cockatiels, conures, rosellas and ringnecks. Plus, the  conservatory that is now a parrot room, which is connected to an outdoor aviary.

In addition to the birds, we have cats, dogs, mice, gerbils, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, pygmy goats, chickens, goldfish and koi carp.

See our various animals and aviaries on our Gallery page.
